Birth of ISAAC Foundation

Mission Statement

The ISAAC Foundation’s mission is to provide educational opportunities to families and economic assistance for intervention services and therapies to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders living in Spokane, Stevens, Lincoln, Whitman, and Kootenai Counties.

ISAAC’S Beginning

On February 8, 2007, Reed and Holly Lytle suffered a tremendous loss when their son Isaac unexpectedly passed away due to an unrelated heart defect.  He was just 6 weeks away from celebrating his fourth birthday.

Days after his death, Isaac’s parents asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the “Isaac Lytle Memorial Fund.”  Having experienced the the financial challenges associated with providing therapies for Isaac, Holly and Reed wanted the money in the memorial fund to be donated to a local family to assist them in providing appropriate therapies for their own child affected by autism.

Reed and Holly struggled with the decision of choosing just one child to benefit from Isaac’s memorial fund. Channeling their grief, the Lytles wrote the structure of The ISAAC Foundation, a non-profit organization, that provides financial grants for therapy that children affected by autism need but insurance companies frequently limit or do not cover.  The Foundation’s name was selected as a tribute to Isaac Dennis Lytle as well as a mission to change the lives of children affected by autism through effective intervention therapy services.

Medical professionals recommend 20-40 hours per week of intensive therapy such as speech, occupational, physical, floortime, behavioral, and  relationship development interventions for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders.  Intensive early intervention services are critical to give a child affected by autism the chance at a bright future.  For families with children affected by autism, life becomes a daily struggle due to the  lack of benefits provided under health insurance plans for therapy services to children with this diagnosis.

Through the generosity of people such as yourself who participate in our fundraising events that The ISAAC Foundation is able to provide financial assistance to families in need of these therapy services for their children affected by  autism.
